Notice To All Users:
Some users are experiencing a connection problem with iAmpRemote, that can be easily fixed. To fix this, go into the plugin settings for iAmpRemote in Winamp and change the port number to 61234 (instead of 1120). Then go into the iAmpRemote settings on your iPhone and make the same change. You will need to restart iAmpRemote after that.

To use iAmpRemote, you need an iPhone, a computer running windows, and Winamp version 5 or newer. You also need to have a wireless home network (802.11 WiFi) and you need to have both your iPhone and computer configured and connected to that network. Follow the instructions below to install and configure iAmpRemote.

1. Download iAmpRemote from the iPhone App Store, and install it on to your iPhone.

2. Download the iAmpRemote winamp plugin form the download section of this website.

3. Install the Winamp plugin into your winamp folder.

4. Run Winamp and load a playlist. You may be prompted by your firewall to allow access. Make sure you click 'allow' or 'always allow' if asked. If winamp gives you any error messages, then close winamp and restart your computer.

6. On your iPhone go to the Settings section, and scroll down to the iAmpRemote settings. In iAmpRemote settings, enter in the Local IP address of your computer which is running Winamp and leave the password field blank at this stage. You can find out the Local IP by typing ipconfig at a command prompt, or by looking at the porperties for your network connection in control panel. Note that the local IP address is usually different to the external IP address that you have on the internet.

7. On the iPhone main menu, select the iAmpRemote button. iAmpRemote will load and attempt to connect to Winamp. You should see the iAmpRemote user interface if everything is configured correctly.

8. That's it. You can start using it to control the song playback, and also browse and search your playlist. The recommended way to use iAmpRemote, is to load your entire music collection into winamp, and then use iAmpRemote to control it.

It is recommended that you set a password for security. You can set the password from within the General Purpose Plugin section in winamp preferences. Select 'iPhone Remote Control' and click 'Configure selected plug-in'.

Troubleshooting:

- Checkout the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

- If you are having difficulty using the plugin installer, you can try downloading the plugin file directly and copying it to your winamp plugins folder. Go to the downloads page and select the Alternate Download.

- Make sure that your iPhone can see the WiFi nework. You can check this by trying to browse the web in Safari without using 3G.

- Make sure that your firewall software is not blocking the connection. Some firewalls need manual configuration. Refer to your filewall instructions for help. You may need to manually configure your firewall to allow incoming TCP connections on port 1120. Before chaning firewall settings, first try restarting your computer.

- Restart winamp after you make any changes to firewall or network settings.
